Who to invite

Inviting people to Team Projects in Abstract is an essential part of collaboration.

By default, each Member of your organization has access to every Team Project within your organization.

A Member is someone invited to your organization who is part of your Team. Members have access to each Team Project within an organization; Members do not automatically have access to Private Projects. A Member can be a Viewer, Contributor, or an Administrator. Members can also be Project Administrators.

In some cases, you may want to invite someone to a specific Team or Private Project as a Guest.

A Guest is typically someone from outside your organization who is invited to one or more specific Projects (Team Projects or Private Projects). Oftentimes, Guests are contractors or clients who only need to see a portion of your organization's work. A Guest can be a Viewer or a Contributor. Guests can also be Project Administrators.

You only need to invite Guests to Team Projects since Members automatically have access. Invite Members and Guests to Private Projects if you're subscribed to the Business plan.

Only Administrators can add Aontributors to an organization or Private Project because Contributor seats are paid and impact billing.

Send a new invitation

You can invite Contributors and Viewers to your organization or to specific Team Projects or Private Projects. Contributors work with you on Sketch files and Viewers preview work to share feedback.

Invite a Member

  1. Select People from the left-hand navigation in Abstract.
  2. Click the Invite People button in the top right corner.
  3. In the Invite to Organization window, choose a Viewer or Contributor role.
  4. Click the Get Invite Link to generate a link, or click the Invite via Email to send an email.
  5. Use the form to Add Contributor Seats, if applicable. The number of used seats for your account is listed.

Invite a Guest

With a Business subscription, you can invite Guests to Team Projects. Most often, organizations use Guest Viewer or Guest Contributor seats for clients or other company colleagues to collaborate and get feedback.

To invite Guests to a Team Project:

  1. Select the Project you'd like to share.
  2. Click on Members in the left-hand navigation.
  3. Click on the Invite People button in the upper-right corner to select Guest Viewer or Guest Contributor.
  4. Select Invite Guest.
  5. Click the Get Invite Link to generate a link, or click the Invite via Email to send an email.
  6. Use the form to Add Contributor Seats, if applicable. The number of occupied seats for your account is listed.

Project Administrators can also use the ••• menu icon in the bottom left corner of a Project card. Then, select Manage People from the menu.

Invite Members or Guests to Private Projects

By default, creating a Team Project within your organization makes it automatically available to your teammates. For organizations on the Business plan, create a Private Project to keep a Project access invitation-only.

  1. Click on Members in the left-hand navigation.
  2. Click on the Invite People button in the upper-right corner.
  3. Click the Get Invite Link to generate a link, or click the Invite via Email to send an email.
  4. Use the form to Add Contributor Seats, if needed. The number of used seats for your account is listed.
